Beady Eye are an English rock band that formed in London in 2009. Following the departure of guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Noel Gallagher from the band Oasis, lead vocalist Liam Gallagher decided to end the band and form a new one in its place, retaining guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell (who switched to the role of guitarist)[1] and drummer Chris Sharrock.[2][3]
The band began writing and recording new material as early as November 2009,[4] and are expected to release their debut single in November 2010, followed by a full-length studio album in the summer of 2011, which is to be produced by Steve Lillywhite.[2][5] The bassist for Beady Eye is Jeff Wootton,[6] while Jay Darlington retains his role from Oasis as live keyboardist.[1]
In an interview with The Sunday Times on July 18, Liam stated that Beady Eye will be "bigger than Oasis" and that his brother will "come crawling back very fucking soon". He also said that the album is three-quarters finished and each member of the band has written four songs for it.[7][clarification needed]
The band commenced a video shoot for their first single in October 2010.[8][9] Unconfirmed reports indicate that Richard Ayoade is directing and that the single will be called "Bring in the Light"[10].
